Motorcycle Tip - How to Clean Your Bike

Here's a Motorcycle Tip compiled from various forum posts.

from SNAPPER91:

I've been using S100 for several years. As per the instructions, I use it on a COLD engine and in the shade. I use LOTS of rinse water, then use more. I use a cheap plastic (i.e., nonscratching if accidentally tapped against the bike) spray nozzle on a garden hose.

Before squirting most of the bike down with S100, I remove the seat and cover the exposed battery & electronics with a plastic bag to protect them from the upcoming waterspray. When rinsing off, I use my fingernails to help remove the more stubborn bugs (S100 softens 'em up REAL good). I use a leafblower to help dry the bike, or a S100 fake chamois if I'm on a road trip. Finally, I use Carnauba wax on the paint and chrome polish on the shiny bits.

I've never used S100 on a bug-splattered windshield. I usually just place the filthy windshield on a soft surface (my lawn, for instance), cover it with a wet towel for 10-15 minutes to soften the dried bugs, then simply wipe it off. (Really cool when you do this in a motel bathtub - often wondered what the housemaids thought of us riders when they gather up the used towels). I just use Harley windshield spray for touchups. Will have to give Pledge a try. Is there a Raspberry flavor to match my bike?

from BLEULOU:

I was recently at a bike show. They told me their secret to keeping their bikes clean and shining ... HONDA polish and cleaner spray. Two groups of guys were cleaning their rods with the spray but the can was duct-taped so you couldn't tell what they were using! ... I haven't used anything else ever since. Spray cleans whitewalls, all metals, windshield. Spray on, wipe off, then wipe again with dry clean cloth. Only $6 a can. I no longer wax (old fashion way) the bike and she stays clean!
