This is my 1930 Harley-Davidson VC called "Baby". The VC is the Commercial Version Engine, lower compression and different pistons than the VL, but more power than the base V model. I have a spare VL engine, but the VC is less common and easier to start. The bike has had a number of corrections made since this picture was taken. The incorrect buddy seat was replaced with a Solo Seat and the Tool Box was un-chromed and correctly repainted. Many other changes have been made. The Horn was replaced with the correct Klaxon 11, an original Speedo added, front and rear main stands added, tranny was rebuilt, and a correct air intake was found and installed. This isn't the rarest of Harleys, but it is one of the rarest and has some of the most difficult to find one year only parts, like the exhaust, headlights, front end, and several other parts. It's the first year of the Big Twin Flat Heads. Only two Harley model years had the twin headlights stock, the 1929 JD F Head and the 1930 Flat Head. It's been said that too many head on accidents with early cages were attributed to drivers misinterpreting the twin head lights as a car in the distance. -- Thomas Woodward
