Motorcycle User Reviews - 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650

I purchased my 650 Burgman last month and it is an absolute riot to ride. No shifting and step-through design is cool for an older rider with a bad back.

The scooter is fast and nimble even with my 270 pounds.

I would recommend this scooter for anyone who does not like to shift or has trouble shifting. My wife really loves the scooter and now my K1200LT just sits in my garage and collects dust. -- Meaty in Texas

Having been a MC rider for 30 years, I was reluctant to buy a scooter. I bought and sold my first two scooters because they simply lacked the power I had grown accustomed to. The Burgman 650 is more like a motorcycle with a step thru frame, an automatic transmission, and storage.

I have grown to appreciate the twist-and-go auto transmission in slow traffic. An automatic CVT transmission is 5 mpg less efficient than a manual transmission. My scooter gets only 42 mpg.

As on most motorcycles, you straddle the engine but the heat of the engine is ducted below the rider. You are never very close to anything hot. The cool ride is appreciated in Texas heat.

I have added a driver backrest and a Givi top box. I recommend both accessories. The seat is almost as comfortable as a Barcalounger.

The 650 tops out at 125 mph and cruises quietly at 80. -- Steve
