Motorcycle User Reviews - 2003 Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Sportster 1200

Motorcycle picture of a 2003 H-D 100th Anniversary Sportster 1200

The last Sportster I owned was a "77" XLH back in 1984. Believe it or not, I rode that all over the country, and I mean from FL to ME to CA, and up into Canada. Never had a problem other than tightening the drive chain a little. Well, after selling the bike and not riding since 1987, I was ready to try it again.

I happened upon a mint condition 2003 Anniversary 1200 Sportster with only 4000 miles. All I can say is ... WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

The 1200cc mill sure seems smoother than the old 1000, and that 5th gear completely eliminated the vibration I had at 62 mph.

This bike is nimble, comfortable, and just plain raises the hair on the back of my neck!

I see the '04s have rubber mounted engines, but in fact, my '03 has virtually no vibration at highway speed.

I'm 6'1" tall, and with these forward controls, I sit perfectly comfortable. I always said Harley should have used the belt final drive on ALL their bikes, and again, what a difference.

Bottom line: this bike is a pleasure to ride, has plenty of get-up-and-go (even with passenger), is a real eye-catcher, reliable, and of course ... lets everyone know you're coming! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. -- Mike
