Motorcycle User Reviews - 2007 Yamaha Royal Star Venture

I have a few gripes about my 2007 Yamaha Royal Star Venture. Let me explain.

On or about the first of May, during THUNDER BEACH my Venture started ticking when it rolled. Since it's a brand new bike with about 1700 miles on it, I took it to Panama City Beach Yamaha.

I live in northern Alabama so I had to stay an extra day and call someone to come get my wife and me, and all the stuff on my bike, and take us home. This cost us about an extra $300. By the way, the Yamaha card will not pay for it unless you remember to keep the receipts. So I was out an extra $300.

The next week I called the service manager (Lou) and asked what the status of my bike was. His response was: "You know Thunder Beach was here and we still haven't cleared out a place to work on yours yet. It's warranty work."

So in the order of trying to be nice and let them work, I told him to call me. As of yet this service manager has yet to be the one to call me.

I always end up making the call to Florida myself. During this event that is still going on, every week I call, and every week it's: "Got him working on it ... got to order the parts ... parts on order ... didn't get some of the parts ... got it all tore apart waiting on the parts ... I know you must miss riding, going to check and see if all the parts came in."

It's now June 24, 2008, going on the 8th week of me trying to get my bike fixed.

I used to be a car mechanic and I can tell you myself. I can order parts for the whole motorcycle and put it together myself with written directions in 2 months!

At this point I'm considering exploding.

For this Venture to be the Premier Cruiser, comparable to the Electra Glide or the Gold Wing, is becoming laughable at best.

Yamaha has given me nothing to ride during my bike's absence, no compensation for loss of riding time, etc. Geez folks, I could build it myself from scratch by now.

For all I've been through, Yamaha ought to just give me one free. They could have replaced the whole engine in a couple of weeks.

I don't even know if the bike will be any good anymore since it's been completely torn apart.

I hope the two bearings and springs do the trick. That was the last thing I heard last week.

So in signing off, just let me say how I feelLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At this point, I'm SADLY DISAPPOINTED IN YAMAHA's QUALITY, & SUPPORT SERVICES!

Maybe next time I'll get an Electra Glide or a Gold Wing.

It's now July 17, 2008. Still no word on my bike. I have no feeling of "KANDO" as the Japanese call it!

Can you guess that I'm fed up? -- Marty
