Motorcycle User Reviews - 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour By Walter F. Kern This is a review of my 2013 Victory Cross Country Tour (Victory XCT). Overview: 106ci 50 deg Vtwin, 6 speed with belt drive Pros: The aluminum frame is very rigid and the bike handles very well. This is not expected since the long pull back bars look strange and you would think they would affect handling. But the long pull back bars are necessary because the gas tank is very long which puts you a long way from the steering head. Wind protection is very good thanks to the tall shield and lowers. I rode home in light rain which took an hour and I was dry when I arrived. The bike came with cruise control, AM-FM stereo, heated grips and seat. The lowers each have a glove box and the left one has a connector for your iPod. Once connected it's possible to access your iPod with the radio controls on the handle bars. The saddle bags are big and so is the trunk. Lots of LEDs on the tail of the bike give good visibility. The signal lights are LED also. Tach and Speedo light up cool blue at night and look very nice. Over all, a really nice bike to ride. It feels big but runs along a twisty road like a bike half its weight. It's a load of fun to push this bike through the twisties. The 106 motor really comes on strong as the revs climb. I like this bike a lot and plan on keeping it for a long time. Don't be turned off by the cons section as I am very picky. Most people will not be bothered or even notice the things that I do. Cons: The tranny is clunky shifting from neutral to 1st and again from 1st to 2nd. The rest of the gears shift OK but they could do better with the tranny. Also it might be a 6-speed but the motor turns a higher RPM than my last bike did with a 5-speed tranny. Personally, I would like to have shaft drive not belt drive. The 106ci motor pulls strongly but lacks low RPM torque that I was used to from my last bike, a Suzuki C90. To be fair, the Suk weighed in at almost 100lbs less than the XCT. The 106 also has a ticking sound from its hydraulic lifters and this ticking gets old fast. The 106 has a single pin crank but sounds more like a Japanese motor than American Iron. -- Rob McGinley User Reviews for Other Victory Models
