Motorcycle Glossary Dictionary Term - Beater Beater: Beginning riders should not attempt to buy a new motorcycle as their first bike. Almost always, a new rider will take a spill or two on their first motorcycle and cause some physical damage. It's better if they have an old bike that they can learn on and won't cost much to fix. Such a bike is often referred to as a Beater. The term may come from the same source that produced the beat-up car.
