Motorcycle Tip - Haul a Motorcycle in a Pickup Truck

Here's a Motorcycle Tip from forum member, DANNYBOY710.

I am over here in northern Alberta, Canada, and whenever I have had to haul a bike, the best way I found is to buy a set of good tie downs. The best I have found are the kind with the two hooks and where you just pull the strap to tighten. Those are really good.

Then just load your bike and hook onto each side of the handle bar. Most tie downs are plastic coated, but you may still want to use something under to keep them from rubbing, then hook to somewhere on each side, in the front corners of your pickup box and it's best to have help with this. Have someone sit on the bike and press down on the front shocks while you tighten each side until they are even, when you have compressed the shocks all the way, the bike will stay right there no matter what. You can tie the back too if you don't want the rear end moving from side to side, as the rear will be very light, but it's up to you, the bike won't move as long as the tie downs up front are tight, and good tie downs won't slip.

I have hauled dirt bikes this way for years, and one spring I bought a GL 1000 Gold Wing and hauled it this way and didn't have any trouble at all.
