Motorcycle Picture - 2005 Kawasaki Mean Streak

Motorcycle Picture of a 2005 Kawasaki Mean Streak
This is my 2005 Kawasaki Mean Streak. I am the second owner. The original selling dealer, Ron Ayers Motorsports located at Greenville, North Carolina, did the paint and chrome wheels. I am told that they usually do a couple of bikes a year as special customs and then keep them in the showroom until the end of year before selling them. I purchased the bike from the original owner in Goose Creek, SC. I have added the windshield, moved the tach and speedo from on top of the triple tree above the headlight to the top of the handlebar risers. I also added the saddle bags and made the luggage rack. The first owner did the exhaust, added most of the chrome, changed the grips and foot pegs. I have added a power socket to the handlebar area so as to power a GPS unit which suction cups to the inside of the windshield. Last year, 2010, I left Winchester, Va. on June 28 and headed west. I was headed for a class reunion in Hot Springs, SD over the July 4th weekend and then I went on touring from there. I visited family along the way, stopping in Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, then back to Wyoming and SD to do some work on my house there. From there I headed south through Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, to Dallas to see my brother. From there into Louisana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and then back to Virginia. I got home on day 39 and rode a total of 9400 miles. The seat on the Kawasaki if quite comfortable for a couple of hours at a time. I had the bike really loaded down with traveling gear but got an average of 40 mpg for the trip. I have owned a lot of bikes but this is my favorite 2 wheeler. You can see an earlier bike of mine under the 2002 Honda Shadow and then my trike under the 97 Boss Hoss. I sometimes tow the Kawasaki behind the Boss when I want to take both bikes on a trip. -- Ted Hagen
