Defect Summary:
On certain motorcycles, during assembly, the final-drive assembly O-ring may not have been installed correctly. A leak may occur at the location of this O-ring which is near the rear brake disc.
Consequence Summary:
If a leak were to occur, oil could come into contact with the rear brake disc, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
Dealers will install a new O-ring in the final-drive assembly. The recall is expected to begin during November 2006. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
