Defect Summary:
Ducati is recalling 396 model year 2008 Desmosedici RR motorcycles. The main wiring harness may be routed incorrectly which could possibly result in damage to the motorcycle and a potential hazard to the rider.
Consequence Summary:
Any damage to the harness may lead to loss of functionality of the motorcycle system or an unexpected loss of engine performance, and thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
Dealers will check, reposition and fasten the main wiring harness to the frame free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during May 2009. To locate your nearest authorized Ducati dealer, you may go to www.ducatiusa.com and select the "dealer locator" or you may call toll free at 800-231-6696.
