Defect Summary:
BMW is recalling certain 2005 through 2007 R1200GS Adventure motorcycles manufactured from December 7, 2005 through September 26, 2007. The fuel tank front attachment bolts can work loose allowing the bolts to come into contact with the fork leg if the handlebar is turned a significant amount.
Consequence Summary:
This could limit the travel range of the handlebars which could affect handling and maneuverability of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
The manufacturer has not yet provided the agency with a remedy plan or a notification schedule. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417.
