Defect Summary:
FLY Racing (FLY) is recalling certain model .357 Helmets size XL manufactured June 1, 2012, to December 31, 2012. The metal ring on the retention strap may separate in high heat conditions. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Systems (FMVSS) No. 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
Consequence Summary:
A helmet that may not remain secure increases the risk of injury to the user in the event of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
FLY will notify owners, and dealers will exchange or refund the affected helmets, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners, may contact FLY customer service at 1-208-376-8400.
