Motorcycle Equipment Recall - H&H Sports Protection Recall

By Walter F. Kern

NHTSA Campaign ID:  15E062000
Component:  Equipment
Manufacturer:  H&H Sports Protection
Recall Date: 07/17/2015
Potential Number of Units Affected: 6,356
Defect Summary:
H&H Sports Protection (H&H) is recalling certain VCAN V528 Milano helmets, sizes XS, S, M, L and XL, manufactured April 1, 2008, to October 9, 2014. The helmet retention systems failed during high temperature testing. Also, the required labeling may not be found on the helmets. As such, these helmets do not meet the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle helmets."
Consequence Summary:
Failed helmet restraints can increase the risk of serious personal injury to the occupant.
Corrective Summary:
These helmets in size XL were originally recalled under campaign 14E-082. On July 15, 2015, H&H expanded the recall to include an additional 5,184 helmets in other sizes. H&H has notified the additional owners, retailers and dealers, and H&H will reimburse the full purchase price for the helmets. The recall began July 15, 2015. Owners may contact H&H customer service at 1-858-680-8226 or at OP@HHsportsprotection.com. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14E-082.
