Defect Summary:
Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2016 XDiavel S motorcycles manufactured November 25, 2015 to May 18, 2016. The affected motorcycles have a rear wheel that may have been incorrectly installed on the hub.
Consequence Summary:
If the rear wheel was incorrectly installed, the drive pins may fail, resulting in a loss of braking and a loss of power transmission from the engine. These conditions increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will remove the rear wheel and install rubber inserts to prevent the wheel from being improperly installed. Any wheel that is found to have been improperly installed will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on July 18, 2016. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati's number for this recall is SRV-RCL-16-001.
