Wild Motorcycle Tales Here's a great story from edeee2. Got your own story? Send it to me. The Blond Bombshell A few weeks ago, I ran into a woman who was the sister of a long ago live-in-girlfriend. She made mention of an incident we had. This inspired me to tell this story. A group of friends got together for an all-day ride. We all met, had breakfast and were getting ready to leave. One of the women made mention to my girlfriend that this could be a ride to celebrate her 18th birthday that was a few days ago. We left and rode for about 150 miles. As we were riding, I heard a bang, crash, noise followed by a loud scream from my girlfriend. A got off the road and stopped as fast as I could. My girl told me she was hurt. Looking at the back of her leg, I saw that the calf was covered in blood. I cut the bottom of the cuff on her pants to see. There was a deep and long cut. As we looked, another guy handed me the side mounted tail light and license plate. The vibration of my Triumph broke it off and it hit the rear wheel or something and cut her leg. We tied bandannas on it and bandaged it as best we could. Got on the road and found a hospital very soon. Thankfully she was covered on my med ins. Got her sewed up. We got on the bikes and found a greasy spoon and chowed down. After eating and spending time at the hospital it was time to head home. Dark was fast approaching and I had no tail light. Could of probably ridden in the middle of the group and got home OK, but several of the guys had suspended driver's licenses. Not wanting to get us stopped, I decided to rig up my broken tag and light. Was no way to safely wire the light on so I needed to figure out something. We called a meeting of the minds and came up with a workable solution. We got some insulated wire and fastened some long wires on the bike back to the tail and brake light. Ran a ground wire. Lights worked again. We then took another long piece and fastened to top of license plate like a long loop. I started the bike, got on, she got on. One guy hung the loop of wire around her neck and the lights and tag hung in the middle of her back. Off we went. We got home without any further troubles. The next day I was going to remount the light bracket but my galfriend says NO! "Without me and the light around my neck you can't ride," she said. We rode like that for a few days and then I repaired it correctly. She healed without any after problems. The cut left a big long scar that is here some 35 years later. There were quite a few things that happened in the next few years with this cutie blond bombshell. Too much arguing caused the breakup that still has a serious dislike between us today. -- edeee2
