Motorcycle User Reviews - 1999 Suzuki Intruder LC1500

Bought the bike used from the original owner. When I first rode it, it felt HUGE, but manageable. Has great torque and bottom-end power but is not a crotch-rocket bike.

Riding position took some getting used to with forward-mounted floorboards. Stock handlebars were too pulled back for me. Got some much flatter bars. Stock seat was pretty comfortable but this setup with a Mustang seat and driver's backrest is very, very comfortable.

Handling is pretty good as this bike carries its bulk down low for the most part. The big fat tires kind of slow the steering down, but wide handlebars cures that.

Suspension is pretty good for the most part, but is somewhat harsher than it should be.

Shifting is clunky and tedious if in traffic. You have to use the heel-toe shifter like you mean it or you will hit a false neutral or it could pop out of gear if you don't get it all the way in.

Brakes are only adequate for normal riding, but later models have an additional disc up front.

Headlight could be brighter, but it will get you home in the dark.

Overall, it is a very nice ride and the price of a used one is super. Great for two-up riding and can handle the distances with the proper handlebar/seat combo. -- Racinchef
