Motorcycle Recall - 2012 Ducati Panigale 1199 Recall

NHTSA Campaign ID:  12V270000
Component:  Suspension: Rear
Manufacturer:  Ducati North America
Recall Date: 06/12/2012
Potential Number of Units Affected: 375
Defect Summary:
Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012 Panigale motorcycles because of an incorrect screw used to retain the swingarm to the rear suspension linkage.
Consequence Summary:
If the linkage detaches from the swingarm, catastrophic suspension collapse would occur and adversely affect the ability to safely handle the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary:
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace, as necessary, the incorrect screw free of charge. Ducati has not yet provided the agency with an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or go to their website at www.ducati.com.
