Motorcycle Equipment Recall - WSB WSB777 Half Motorcycle Helmets

By Walter F. Kern

NHTSA Campaign ID:  16E068000
Component:  Equipment
Manufacturer:  WSB Inc
Recall Date: 08/05/2016
Potential Number of Units Affected: 300
Defect Summary:
WSB Inc (WSB) is recalling certain WSB777 half helmets in all sizes manufactured May 1, 2015, to May 2, 2015. The affected helmets may be missing or have insufficient labeling and may not be strong enough to protect a user in the event of a crash. As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
Consequence Summary:
Helmets that do properly protect the wearer's head can increase the risk of injury to the wearer in the event of a crash. Missing labeling information reduces the user's possibility of identifying the helmet in the event of a safety recall.
Corrective Summary:
WSB will notify owners, and replace or reimburse the owners, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2016. Owners may contact WSB customer service at 1-855-322-3733.
